Mooseheart

Mooseheart is a residential childcare community, providing a safe and nurturing home for children in need. Founded in 1913 by the Loyal Order of Moose, we offer education, housing, and guidance to help children grow into successful, independent adults.

Moosehaven

Moosehaven is a private membership retirement community located on the banks of the St Johns River, in the heart of Orange Park, Florida. With a full range of programs and services, Moosehaven provides seniors 65 and older a comfortable and secure retirement option. Residents enjoy the benefits of social interaction and support services within a residential community that has served members of The Moose since 1922.

1947 Demo Lodge XXX Founded

1978 Moved to new building

Our new building was completed and we moved from our old rented quarters to our own building. (Example)

National

1888 The Founding

Dr. John Henry Wilson and a group of friends founded the Loyal Order of Moose in a doctor's living room in Louisville, Kentucky, originally as a men's social and drinking club.

1906 The Davis Era

With membership down to 247, James J. Davis took over leadership and led recruitment drives that grew the fraternity to nearly half a million members across a thousand lodges.

1913 Mooseheart is Born

The fraternity purchased 1,000 acres in Illinois to build Mooseheart, the "City of Children," providing housing, education, and care for members' children in need. The Women of the Moose auxiliary was also founded this year.

1922 Moosehaven

The fraternity established Moosehaven in Orange Park, Florida, the "City of Contentment," a retirement community for aging members and their spouses.

1989 A Modern Wardrobe

The fraternity retired its old ceremonial robes and the "Tah" headgear in favor of colored blazers reflecting a member's degree of service.

1991 Moose International

The fraternity officially renamed itself Moose International, reflecting roughly 2,000 lodges today across the US, Canada, and Great Britain.
