Demo Moose Lodge XXX — User Manual
This covers everything you can do here, from your very first login onward. It's organized so you can jump straight to what you need — nothing here needs to be read in order.
Logging In & Your Account
It's a good idea to bookmark the Log In page now, so you can find your way back easily next time. The link in your original invitation email was one-time — it was for setting up your account, and won't work again — so a bookmark (or saving the login URL somewhere handy) is the easiest way back in going forward.
To log out, look for the "Log Out" link near the top of the page, next to the organization logo.
The Main Feed
This is the heart of the site — a running feed of everything shared, newest first. A post pinned to the top by an Admin will always stay there, above everything else, until it's unpinned.
Underneath each post you'll find six reaction icons (heart, thumbs up, thumbs down, smile, frown, shock). Tap one to react — tap it again to remove your reaction, or tap a different one to switch. Reactions are anonymous: counts are shown, but nobody, including the post's author, can see who picked what.
To reply to a post, use the "Write a reply…" box underneath it and click Reply. Replies show your name and photo (if you've added one) and are visible to anyone who can see the post.
Keep it kind. Replies and comments aren't the place for complaints about, or personal attacks on, other members. If that happens, an Admin can revoke your ability to comment — while leaving the rest of your access untouched.
If there's more to see, a "Load more" button appears at the bottom of the feed — click it to keep going.
Your Profile
Look for the "My Profile" link near the top of the page, next to Log Out. From there you can update your name, mailing address, username, and profile photo, any time.
Adding a photo is entirely optional. If you skip it, you'll get a simple colored circle with your initials instead — nothing broken, just a placeholder. A new photo shows up on anything you post or reply to going forward — older posts and replies aren't updated retroactively.
Choosing or changing your username is optional too, and checked for availability as you type. Either your email or your username works to log in — changing one never affects the other.
Changing your email address takes one extra step on purpose: you'll get a confirmation link sent to the new address, and nothing changes until you click it. This protects you from a mistyped address accidentally locking you out.
Notification Preferences
Also from "My Profile," choose how you want to hear about new posts: by email, by text, or both. If you choose text, you'll be asked for your phone number and to confirm you'd like to receive messages.
You can also choose how often: an alert for every post as it happens, or one weekly digest instead.
The main feed is always included. If your organization has Sections, you'll also see a checklist of which ones to be notified about — pick as many or as few as you'd like, independent of which Sections you're free to browse.
If you're receiving texts, you can reply STOP at any time to opt out, START to resume, or HELP for assistance.
Responding to Events (RSVP)
Some posts are events — they'll show a date and time, and an "I'm Going" button. If you're planning to attend, enter how many people total (including yourself) and click I'm Going. Changed your mind? A "Not Going" option appears once you've responded — click it to remove your RSVP.
You'll only ever see a running total of how many are going, not a list of names — that level of detail is only visible to the organizer.
Polls
A poll looks like a post with a colored stripe down the side and a small "Poll" label. Choose your answer (or answers, if multiple are allowed) and click Submit Vote. Results — and anyone's optional comments — only appear once you've voted; there's no way to peek ahead of time.
Like reactions, your specific vote is never shown to anyone. If you leave an optional comment alongside your vote, though, that is shown with your name attached, the same as a reply would be.
Sections
If your organization has sub-groups — an auxiliary, a committee, a specific program — they may have their own Section: a smaller version of the main feed just for that group. Look for a row of links under the logo on the main feed to browse any Section. A "← Back to main feed" link at the top of any Section page brings you back.
Asking Leadership a Question
Have something to ask or raise that isn't right for a public post? Look for the "Ask a Question or Leave a Comment" button at the top of the sidebar on the main feed. It's private — only your organization's leadership can see what you send, and they'll know it came from you (this one isn't anonymous).
This isn't for complaints about other members either. Personal attacks or complaints about specific people aren't an appropriate use of this feature — if that happens, an Admin can revoke your access to it.
If You're a Contributing Member
In addition to everything above, you can create posts on the main feed. Look for the post box at the top of the feed: add a title (required) and, optionally, a message, photos or video, and a link. A title with just a photo is completely fine — the message field is never required.
Made a mistake, or need to update something? You can edit your own already-published posts — look for the Edit button on posts you've authored. You can change the title, the message, and add, remove, or resize photos.
Have something that comes up again and again — a monthly meeting reminder, a quarterly fundraiser? Instead of re-posting it from scratch each time, open Edit on your own post and check "Hide post" to pull it off the feed (only you can still see it there). When it's time to bring it back, uncheck "Hide post" — check "Move to top of feed" at the same time to have it reappear as the newest post again.
When creating a post, you can also turn it into an event (add an RSVP) or a poll — look for the checkboxes below the message field. Both are optional, one-time settings decided when you create the post.
If you created an RSVP event or a poll, you'll be able to see the full breakdown — who's coming, or the running results — even before responding yourself, from an "Organizer view" section that appears on your own post.
If You're a Section Moderator
You have everything a Contributing Member has, scoped to your specific Section — you can post, edit your own posts, and see the RSVP/poll Organizer view there. You can also delete any post within your Section (not just your own) and restrict who's able to comment on a specific post, if needed. These abilities only apply inside your Section — they don't extend to the main feed unless you're also a Contributing Member there.
